Abstract: The World Health Organization (WHO) has recognized herbal medicine as a key strategy within the food industry for managing diabetes. This study investigated the therapeutic effects of a combined Aloe vera and Cinnamon aqueous extract on diabetic complicationsA 30-day study was conducted using thirty male Albino rats with induced diabetes. The animals were divided into three groups: a healthy control, an untreated diabetic control, and a diabetic group treated with the combined Aloe vera and Cinnamon aqueous extract (250 mg/kg). The treatment successfully counteracted several diabetic alterations: it ameliorated weight loss, hyperglycemia, and dyslipidemia (characterized by elevated triglycerides, cholesterol, and LDL, and reduced HDL). Furthermore, the herbal combination improved liver function by reducing elevated liver enzymes and demonstrated significant antioxidant activity by boosting antioxidant enzymes and lowering malondialdehyde (MDA) levels. Although creatinine remained unchanged, elevated blood urea in diabetic rats was also reduced. The findings conclude that the synergistic application of Aloe vera and Cinnamon possesses potent antioxidant and hypoglycemic properties, offering a protective effect against diabetes-induced hepatic and renal damage.
