Abstract: Scabies is a prevalent dermatological disorder induced by the mite Sarcoptes scabiei. It infects the dermis, resulting in sores within the epidermis and expanding beyond it. The mite typically eludes detection by the human eye. The parasite infiltrates the epidermis, establishing a habitat, and deposits its eggs within. Scabies are transferred via direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected individual or through their possessions, including clothing or inanimate objects they utilize. Intense itching in the infected patient causes the rupture of burrows harbouring the parasite, resulting in the exudation of fluids and blood, which renders the skin vulnerable to infections from pathogens, including bacterial infections. Diagnostic methods for scabies include direct microscopy, histology, serological testing, dermoscopy, and various molecular approaches. Benzyl benzoate and sulfur ointments are available treatments for scabies.Preventive chemotherapy with mass drug administrations (MDAs) constitutes a distinctive and enhanced method of case management.
