Abstract: Gram-negative Klebsiella pneumonia, encapsulated, and opportunistic infection that is a serious danger to animal health due to its ability to acquire antibiotic resistance genes. This study aimed to molecularly determine the existence of bla-SHV and bla-CTX beta-lactamase genes, along with the 16S rRNA gene, in K. pneumoniae isolates collected from animal sources. A total of 20 isolates were obtained from animals showing clinical signs of infection, specifically diarrheic chickens and neonatal calves. All Isolates were recognized using traditional microbiological methods and verified with the use of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) analysis. The results revealed that 100% of the isolates carried both the 16S rRNA and bla-SHV genes, while 45% were positive for the bla-CTX gene. These findings indicate an Extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) genes are highly prevalent in K. pneumoniae. Strains isolated from animals, suggesting the potential role of animal reservoirs in the emergence and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance. The application of molecular diagnostic methods like PCR, alongside automated identification systems like VITEK 2, provides an effective strategy for the quick and precise detection of antibiotic resistance genes in veterinary microbiology. Ongoing monitoring is necessary to track patterns of resistance and inform control strategies within a One Health framework.
