Current approach in the control of helminthes of ruminants

Abstract: Worldwide, parasitic diseases are the most common problems affecting animal health and performance due to organ rejection, zoonotic diseases, and enormous economic losses related to animal products. Various control methods such as chemotherapy and prophylaxis are the most widely deployed control methods to minimize the damage caused by these diseases. However, the development of drug resistance, price, availability, and drug residues hinder the effectiveness of this approach. In recent years, the focus has shifted to a more flexible approach, i.e., integrated pest management, i.e. a combination of chemical, managerial and biological measures, taking into account various factors as above. The goal of biological control is to reduce pest populations to below clinical and economic thresholds because it leads to a pest-free life in grasslands. Examining potential approaches to control and prevention is one of the goals of this article.
